Update – 11:30 AM Saturday, May 2 – The driver killed in this wreck has been identified as Dr. Don Bostic, Executive Vice President of Ranger College in Brownwood. Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Dr. Bostic.
Original story – Area law enforcement agencies and first responders were called to a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on U.S. Highway 183 N involving an 18-wheeler and another vehicle. The 18-wheeler sustained heavy front-end damage, and the other vehicle was destroyed by fire that ignited as a result of the accident. Authorities confirmed a fatality as a result of the accident but no other information was available Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4:45 PM approximately 2 miles north of Brownwood near the intersection of County Road 339.
The area of the accident falls in the jurisdiction of the Brownwood Police Department who are leading the investigation. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Early Police, Brownwood Fire Department, Early Volunteer Fire Department and Allegiance Ambulance all responded to the scene.
