CoffmanAudrieAudrie Lee McKnight Coffman, 91, departed this world on Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Brownwood Texas.

On February 23, 1919, Audrie Lee McKnight was born to Aud and Ruth.  She spent her childhood in the farming community of Mt. Zion, just south of Bangs.  In 1936, Audrie graduated from Bangs High School.

On July 15th, 1937, Audrie and Luke Coffman were married.  It was a journey they would share for 64 years. Audrie and Luke made their living farming, for twenty years, in Mt. View and Brookesmith.  They started a family, a daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) and a son, Jimmy.

Audrie poured herself into the community and participated in the Mt. View Methodist Church, taught youth classes, and led both the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Brookesmith PTA as their President.

In 1954, a drought hit the area and Audrie and Luke made the decision to move their family to Brownwood.  Mom was a room mother for East Ward, member of the PTA, youth leader for the Central Methodist Church, and a member in the Upper Room Bible class.

Audrie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She lived her life gratefully and resourcefully, staying strong in difficult times.  She was always thankful for blessings that came her way.  Her family was her most precious asset, not silver or gold.  She served others with humility and love, not wanting attention for herself.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jack, brother W. A. (Willie) Jr., sister Geneva McCormick, and nephew, Jerry Don Stapleton.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Sykora; son, Jimmy Coffman and wife, Suzanne; two grandchildren, Jeff Fisher, and Amelia Coffman; two sisters, Bernice Stapleton of Burleson, Texas, and Lillian Dwiggins of Asheboro, N.C.; nieces and nephews and a host of friends including the many dear friends she met at The Chatfield, where she resided for one year.

Mom, you have left our hearts filled forever with the imprint of your love.
