Aubrey “Slim” Edwards, 80, of Brownwood, passed away on Monday April 27, 2015 in Brownwood, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm today, Friday, May 1, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Barnum officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday April 30th, at the funeral home.
“Slim” was born on August 15, 1934, in Brownwood, Texas to Edgar Harim and Lina Mae (Greenwood) Edwards. Following school, “Slim” traveled to West Texas and began working in the oil fields. After a year or so, “Slim” returned to Brownwood where he began working on boats and motors, then purchased a business and named it A.M. Marine Outboard which he operated for about 15 years.
“Slim” moved his business to a new location where he did repair work on boats, motors, and auto repair as well. He loved to fish and would take every opportunity he had, and slip off to the lake. He always kept his family and friends well supplied with fish by running trotlines.
“Slim” is survived by daughter, Lina Kay Clary of Abilene, son, Raymond Edwards of Brownwood and wife Brenda; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Bass of Odessa; niece, Debra Richardson of Colorado; nephew, Sam Baumgartner of Notrees, Texas; cousin, Mary Jane Barnum and a host other family members. He was preceded in death by son Aubrey Lee Edwards; parents, Edgar and Lina Edwards; and nephew, Randy Baumgartner.
