The Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted its annual Fields of Faith event Wednesday night at Gordon Wood Stadium with thousands of area students and athletes attending the event.
New Fellowship of Christian Athletes area director Tony Daniel was introduced to area students during the event.
Those in attendance heard Christian testimonies from other student athletes, live Christian music, and guest speaker Chad Mitchell from Abilene.
Mitchell talked to the students about mistakes, and that past mistakes do not define a person’s identity today. Mitchell outlined some of his past mistakes and how God turned his life around and called him to the ministry 16 years ago.
“How could God use a sinner like me, I asked,” Mitchell said. “You have been set free by God.”
After a brief message, Mitchell opened an invitation and a mass of students came forward to learn more about Jesus and some to rededicate their lives.
Leaders broke into prayer groups to help those who came forward.
This rapidly-growing, interdenominational outreach event was held at more than 400 locations throughout the nation Wednesday night. This was the 7th year the event was held in Brownwood.
