The May Tigers, Bangs Dragons, and Goldthwaite Eagles football teams are advancing in the state playoffs, games to be played in the next few days will determine if they make it to the next round of competition.
The undefeated May Tigers, coached by Craig Steele, have enjoyed an undefeated season with a 12-0 record. They are set to face Savoy High School in the state quarter finals in Springtown at 7:30 p.m. today, Saturday, November 30th. Savoy has a 3-1 non-district record and is 8-3 in district play.
The Tigers have earned this spot in the playoffs by defeating Lingleville in bi-district (58-8) and Blum in region (66-35).
Bangs Dragons, coached by Chuck Lipsey, will play Eastland on Monday, December 2nd in a delayed region match up due to inclement weather earlier this week. The game will kick off at 6:00 p.m. at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood.
The Dragons have earned their spot in the playoffs by defeating Comanche in bi-district play (31-26) and Denver City in the Area matchup (27-25). The winner in the region game will face Wall in the state quarterfinals.Goldthwaite, coached by Gary Proffitt, will face Hico in the state quarter finals, at a location and date yet to be announced as of Saturday morning.
The Eagles earned their spot in the playoffs with a bye in bi-district, and by defeating Bowie in the area match up (32-6) and DeLeon in region (14-13).
