2009FirstDayOfSchool2Brownwood ISD starts back to school this morning as summer begins to fade and student’s minds begin to focus on learning.

Many other area schools including Early ISD kicked off their school year on Monday, so now all Brown County schools are back in session.  The first day of school will offer lots of homework, but not for the students – for parents.  Teachers will be sending home contact and information forms along with student code of conduct and free/reduced lunch registration forms.

Schools and teachers ask that parents fill out all of the forms and information as soon as possible and review the student code of conduct with their kids to help kick off the school year right.

Drivers are also cautioned to watch for school zones and cross walks with the new school year.  Area law enforcement will be patrolling these locations and drivers should be mindful of these school zones.

In addition to the first day of classes, Brownwood ISD will host their traditional “Meet The Lions” at Gordon Wood Stadium this evening.  Parents, teachers, and fans are encouraged to come out and be2009FirstDayOfSchool1 introduced to this years sports teams.  The event starts with a hamburger supper at 5pm.

Early ISD will host a similar event Saturday, August 29th called “Purple Day”.  Longhorn fans will be introduced to the new athletic teams at the new stadium.  6pm will begin with a hamburger meal and 7pm will begin introduction of the teams.  Following will be games and activities such as a dunking booth, inflatable jumping gyms, and a silent auction.
