Big Country Ford recently held their annual Drive 4UR School event to support area schools’ Project Graduations, which was very successful and resulted in $5120.00 being donated from Big Country Ford and Ford Motor Company.

Although Saturday, October 5th was cold and windy, that didn’t stop supporters from coming to Commerce Square to test drive a new Ford vehicle and help area seniors raise money for their Project Graduations, alcohol and drug free graduation celebrations.  High schools represented at the event included Bangs, Brownwood, Early, May and Zephyr.

“All in all, with the weather being windy, rainy and cool, we think it was a pretty good day,” said Kurt Newton of Big Country Ford of Saturday’s event.

For every person who took a test-drive in a new Ford vehicle that day, Big Country Ford and Ford Motor Company donated $20 to the school of the driver’s choice.  There were 256 total test drives taken, 70 of those were for Brownwood High School resulting in a donation of $1400 to BHS Project Graduation 2014.

In addition to the money raised through test drives, Ford allowed each school to set up booths offering foods such as hamburgers, barbeque sandwiches, turkey legs, drinks, baked goods, and raffles of all kinds.

Since the start of Ford’s Drive 4UR School program in 2007, more than $16 million in donations have been generated for high schools nationwide.

A big thanks to Big Country Ford and the Ford Motor Company for supporting the youth of the community.
