Before the cold air arrives, an upper level storm system will approach west Central Texas on Wednesday night bringing a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms for Wednesday night and Thursday.

Some of the thunderstorms may approach severe levels across the northwest Hill Country and Heartland. The main threats will be large hail and damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall.

By late Thursday afternoon, the cold front will be entering the northern Big Country. The front will then progress southward through the rest of the area making it into the Concho Valley and Heartland by Thursday evening and into the interstate 10 corridor by late evening.

Behind the cold front, a wintry mix of precipitation will be possible Thursday night northwest of an Ozona to Eden to Brownwood line. Light ice and snow accumulations are possible across the Big Country Thursday night and roads may become slick and icy.

The cold weather will continue through Friday night. Highs Friday will be in the upper 20s and 30s and lows Friday night will drop into the upper teens to lower 20s most areas.
