Funeral services for Archie Doyle Crossland, age 81, of Brownwood, will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Rob Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
Mr. Crossland passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 in Oak Ridge Manor.
Archie was born on September 21, 1932 in Wellington to James E. and Ettie Mae (Calder) Crossland. He attended Coleman and Brownwood schools before joining the US Army in 1950. He served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Naomi Chambers in McCamey on November 23, 1959. Archie went on to work as a truck driver and plant manager in McCamey and Atchison, Kansas before moving to Brownwood in 1987. He was a Baptist.
Archie is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Naomi Crossland of Brownwood; a son, Archie Crossland of Lytly; three daughters, Ellen Crossland of McCamey, Audrey Lewis and husband Jimmy of Brownwood, and Penny Crossland of Crane; a brother, Frank Crossland of McCamey; a sister, Iola Mills of Ohio; four grandchildren James, Bridgett, and Tera Crossland and Jessica Rodriguez; four great-grandchildren Averanna Tarin, Nathaniel Lewis, Alexus Zepeda, and Joseph Rodriguez
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
