AutismAwarenessMo2014

Brownwood City Council proclaimed the month of April as Autism Awareness Month.  Mayor Stephen Haynes presented a proclamation to staff of Center for Life Resources on Tuesday.

According to the proclamation, Autism is a lifelong disability, resulting in significant impairment of an individual’s ability to communicate, understand social interactions, and develop appropriate interactive behaviors.  It affects not only the diagnosed individual but the entire family and the community at large, Mayor Haynes stated.

There is currently no identified cause or cure for autism; however the Center for Life Resources offers hope for recovery through outreach, training, and consultation, the proclamation stated.
