logoThis year at the Brownwood Reunion Celebration, the first ‘Brownwood’s Got Talent’ competition will take place at the ‘Lone Star Stage’ on Saturday, September 15th.  The winner will perform on the Celebration Stage that Saturday night and will receive 2 VIP passes to the main stage concerts. This is the first year for the competition, and organizers are hoping to make it an annual event.

The ‘Brownwood’s Got Talent’ competition will be the first of its kind.  Previously ‘Brownwood Idol’ has been held, but this year’s competition is different in that it is open to all talents, and not just singing.

“It’s not just a singing competition; it’s whatever your talent is. That is what is making this different. As long as it is clean and family oriented, that’s what we are after,” says Kim Peterson, Executive Director of the Brownwood Reunion.

Starting on August 14th, the process will begin with try-outs and contestants getting narrowed down to the top 10 by the 18th. On August 21st the top 10 will be announced and interviewed on KOXE.

Part of the results will be determined by online voting. On August 22nd the top 10 will be recorded, so that voters may go online to vote for their favorite. The online voting will account for 50% off the final judging. The other 50% will be based on the performance from the day of the competition. Online voting will be available from August 23rd to September 12th at noon.  In the event of a computer malfunction, voting will be based solely on the live performance.

Applications are available online at www.celebratebrownwood.com , and will also be available at the radio stations, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Brownwood Music. For more information about ‘Brownwood’s Got Talent’ contact Tammy Robinson at (325) 642-1319.
