Anthony “Wayne” Goforth, born on August 31, 1960 in Memphis, TN, died from congestive heart failure at Abilene Regional in Abilene, TX, on August 24, 2017. He was 56 years old.
Wayne graduated from Hammond Hills Baptist School in Memphis. He received a Bachelor of Science in Bible from Freed-Hardiman in 1984. He attended the Memphis School of Preaching. He completed his Teaching Certifications from Texas Teachers in 2016.
Wayne was a member of the church of Christ for 41 years. He was a Gospel preacher for over 30 years. He was also a gun instructor and owner of Castle Keep Services for several years. He was most recently employed by Brownwood ISD as Dyslexia Specialist.
He was member of 4-H and received the Silver Clover award for his service. He was a member of the NRA, TSRA, and the TSTA.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Betty Goforth, his oldest brother, David Goforth.
He is survived by his brother Paul (Debbie) Goforth, St. Charles, MO; his children, Robert Goforth of Norman, Oklahoma; Nicholas Goforth of Kiev, Ukraine; Aurora Goforth of Wichita Falls, TX; Joseph (Courteney) Goforth of Ft. Worth, TX; Cassandra (Ian) Tilley of Roanoke, TX; Sierra Goforth, Teadora Goforth, Heidi Goforth, Cody Goforth and Zachary Goforth all of Brownwood, TX; one grandson, Louis Goforth of Norman, Oklahoma; and his second grandchild is expected in February.
Wayne is also survived by his fiancé Marchelle Chaney and her daughter Emily Chaney of Early, TX.
A memorial service will be held at Austin Avenue Church of Christ on Saturday, August 26th, 2017, at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to Brownwood Education Foundation, 2707 Southside Dr, Brownwood, 76801 or the American Heart Association.
