Written by Ben Cox – The 3rd annual “Wheels that Move the World” event is scheduled to take place this weekend at the Lehnis Railroad Museum, and director Crystal Stanley is excited for this year.

Stanley says “We’re gonna have most of the usual vehicles, but this year we have some new ones! Kohler will be bringing out a tractor trailer, and we got Bangs ISD to bring a bus out for us. Gary Worley and Brown County Precinct 1 will bring out a couple of their vehicles. The city will show case the new street sweeper and several other exciting vehicles. “

Hopes and expectations also reach for the sky with this event. “We hope to have a crane as well! One of the big ones, that will be a neat thing!”

Not only will there be work and utility vehicles, but personal modes of transportation as well. “The Heartland Cruisers will be out there on Saturday, and we are also going to have a few ATV’s, thanks to Terry McDonald.”

Friday will feature Air Evac, as well as “the unveiling of the name for the new locomotive for the mini train, that’s at 2 p.m. Along with that, we will have a canned soup drive for Good Samaritan, who will have their truck. Any kids who bring five cans of soup can ride the mini train for free!”

Stanley not only reached out to many of the groups showing off their rides, she got a few calls as well offering to showcase unique vehicles. “We will have a racing go-kart on display in the museum!”

There will be food trucks on site for hungry attendees. “Friday wee will have Chuck Dragon, which is Korean Fusion, and Saturday will be Chipsters. Both days we will have Irma Jeans will be out there doing her turkey legs and snow cones and strawberry lemonade, all the usual good stuff!”

Stanley is excited for the event to kickoff, as it is the result of white a lot of effort. “This is our biggest event of the year, the other big one is the Polar Express in December.”

There will also be an opportunity for folks to give back by donating blood in a blood-mobile on site. Another place for volunteering is at the event itself. “We are needing volunteers, just a couple hours here and there, we can also document hours for any organization that needs volunteer hours. Just call us at the museum!”

Wheels that Move the World kicks off on Friday the 15th, and wraps up Saturday afternoon the 19th, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Their phone number is 325-643-6376.
