Ann Yvonne (Evetts) Fisher of Lake Brownwood was born in Stamford, Texas, on October 22, 1939, to Ruth and Jim Evetts as the youngest of eight children. She became Ann Fisher when she married Lesley Fisher on February 13, 1960. She passed away in Fair Oaks Ranch, TX with family by her side on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the age of 78.
Ann loved her adventures of life including growing up in the Stamford area, attending high school in Cisco, attending college at Abilene Christian University and Southwest Texas State University, and teaching. Most of all though, she loved her journey with Lesley and raising their three children: SiLes, Paige, and Dusty. She cherished her relationships with her loving in-laws and the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchild.
Because of Lesley’s coaching career, Ann lived with her family in Brady, San Marcos, Winters, and Brownwood and enjoyed all that life had to offer in each place, including wonderful family and precious oldest and newest friends. Ann had the uncanny ability to find beauty and joy in the simplest of God’s gifts and felt her life was perfectly blessed.
Ann served the Lord as an active member of the Austin Avenue church of Christ and enjoyed invaluable treasured friends among her church family. She was a faithful Christian who believed in the power of prayer. She was very proud of her heritage and was a member of the Mary Garland Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association in Brown County and of Delta Kappa Gamma which is a professional society of women educators. She volunteered and was a mentor for Christian Women’s Job Corp and was a member of and served as President of the Brownwood Woman’s Club. She loved her Bridge Groups that she shared many happy times with, as well as life’s experiences. She always said that her Bridge game never improved over the course of years because she was only there to talk and eat. Speaking of eating, Lesley and she always looked forward to their monthly supper club get-togethers and cherished the friendships they enjoyed. Ann was retired from teaching school after 30 years, but not from caring for children, students and all the young lives that had touched her heart.
Ann is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lesley Fisher of Lake Brownwood; daughters SiLes Langston (Jon) of Lubbock and Paige Britton (Shane) of Brownwood; son Dusty Fisher (Jo Lynn) of Fair Oaks Ranch; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ann was blessed to be called “Nan” by eight grandchildren: Tait Langston (Sarah), Tanner Langston (Meghan), Taylor Peters (Drew), Brooklyn, Chandler, and Berkeley Britton, and Mixon and Jaxon Fisher. Nan also loved two great grandchildren: Brecken Langston and JonLee who is on the way. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and six sisters.
Her love for the Lord, family, home and friends is the way she wants to be remembered. Ann left a message for all of us saying “I’LL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN AND WE WILL HAVE A GLORIOUS REUNION.”
The family will receive friends at Heartland Funeral Home in Early on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Funeral will be Friday, April 27, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Austin Avenue church of Christ in Brownwood with interment following at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.
