Graveside services for Anita “Nita” Burney Owings, age 72, of Brownwood, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Greenleaf Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 at Davis Morris Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 23. Anita passed peacefully on January 19, 2018.
Anita was born on Feb 10, 1945 in Lamesa, Texas to Verner and Mildred Crump. The second of four children, she was raised on a family farm outside of Lamesa and graduated from Lamesa High School. She was gifted with a jubilant personality and an infectious laugh, as anyone who knew her can attest. She spent many years working as real estate agent in the Brownwood area before retiring to her home on Lake Brownwood. Her kindness and joy for life will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband; AJ Owings of Brownwood; children Bradford Burney and wife Jenessa, April Harpole and husband Tyler, Larry Owings and wife Michelle; grandchildren Alexis Harpole, Ashton Harpole, Emily Burney and Britton Burney; Sisters Pam Hester and Sandy Mayfield.
She is preceded in death by parents Verner and Mildred Crump and brother Richard Crump.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Meals on Wheels of Brownwood and Early, P. O. Box 1115, Brownwood, TX 76804.
