Anita Lavern Johnson Boyd, age 81, of Early, Texas passed from this life January 6, 2018 at Senior Care of Brownwood. Services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2018 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Boyd passed away Saturday January 6, 2018 in a local nursing home.
Anita was born January 19, 1936 in Pottesville, Texas to LV and Artie Ryan Johnson. She was a member of the 4th and Stewart Street Church of Christ and a graduate of Early High School. On June 1, 1957 Anita married Gainer Lee Boyd and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2001. Anita loved to sew, quilt, cook and help Gainer plow and harvest peanuts.
Survivors include two daughters Nita Karla Boyd and Darla Louise Keesee of Early; and a son Gainer Leon Boyd of Hutto; five grandchildren Karesa Keesee, Karlton Keesee and wife Hillari, Mia Stroope, Evan and Isabella Boyd; two great granddaughters Kaebri and Khori Keesee; two sisters Kassie Ann Singleton and Artie Louise Hammond; two sisters-in-law Glenda Phillips and Shirley Dodds and a special couple Darlene and Don Smith.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents LV and Artie Johnson, a brother Jeffie V Johnson, son-in-law Karl Keesee, four brothers-in-law George Hammond, Lloyd Singleton, Vernon Phillips and Winifred Dodds.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the 4th and Stewart Street Church of Christ for mission work and the Cherokee Childrens Home.
