Joan was born in Meadow, Texas to Bernice and Virgie Blevins on October 29, 1931, and died peacefully on August 19, 2014, at the age of 82 at Oakridge Manor in Brownwood, Texas.
Joan married Edgar E (Gene) Watson on November 29, 1952, in Brownfield, Texas, celebrating 60 years together before Gene’s passing in 2013. They lived in Lubbock, Texas for many years with their two sons, Rodney and Joel, before moving full time to Brownwood, Texas.
Joan was an avid sportswoman, active in bowling, waterskiing, hunting and fishing. She could be found walking the fields side by side with her family as she loved quail and dove hunting.
She also was an excellent artist working with oil painting and especially enjoyed painting nature scenes and birds. She was active in her church and community as well as a good listener to her many friends and family. She especially enjoyed her friends at Chatfield Assisted Living the last years of her life.
Survived by son Joel and Roxanne of Breckenridge, Colorado, brother Leon and Shannah Blevins of El Paso, Texas and many nieces and nephews.Joan was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Pinkney Dobkins, husband Gene, son Rodney and sister Glenda.
