Funeral Services for Andrew Shane Blisard, age 48, of Bangs will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church with Brad Davis and Bro. Rick Justice officiating; burial will follow at Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Andrew passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at a local nursing home.
Andrew was born to Gene and Martha (Gravell) Blisard on November 2, 1967, in Lubbock. He graduated from Bangs High School in 1986. After high school, he joined the United States Army. He served 9 ½ years in the Army as a Military Police and Armor Crewman (tanker). Upon leaving the Army, Andrew continued his law enforcement career as a Brownwood Police Officer; working Patrol and in the Criminal Investigation Dept. for 6 years. Unfortunately, Andrew’s career was cut short because of his health.
Andrew was a kid at heart, making it easy for him to work with the youth in the D.A.R.E program; he enjoyed helping kids. He was the “life of the party” and knew how to have a good time wherever he was. He never met a stranger. Andrew loved his football Friday nights, but most of all he loved his family.Andrew is survived by his 4 children, Caleb, Drew, Aaron, and Alex; 3 grandchildren; father, Gene Blisard of Bangs; mother, Martha Gabbert of Salado; siblings, Tony Blisard and wife Sharlett of Temple, Rance Blisard and wife Joan of Bangs, Joey Blisard and wife Renee of Lake Brownwood, Bill Blisard and wife Kelly of Salado, Russell Rosenbusch and wife Christina of Lake Brownwood, and Caryn Troyer and husband Tom of Granbury; 14, nieces and nephew; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. He is also survived a host of loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Connie Blisard.
