Alvie Curtis Milam, 78, of Rising Star, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Alvie was born November 9, 1931 to Charles Curtis Milam and Mae Oldham Milam in Lawton, Oklahoma. He lived in Lawton through his mid 20’s; eventually moving to Fort Worth, Texas, where he lived over 50 years until October, 2007 when he moved to Rising Star, Texas.
Alvie’s passions were motorcycles, cars and roller skating in his younger years; later in life he enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, kidding and joking with his friends and playing bingo.
Alvie’s parents pre-deceased him as well as an older baby sister, Rena Mae Milam; and a baby daughter, Debra Ann Milam.
Alvie always loved his hometown of Lawton, Oklahoma and visited there whenever he could.
During his working years, Alvie worked at General Dynamics, Allright Parking Lot and Moore Van & Storage, (all in Fort Worth) where he earned the rating of “certified packer.” He was also a longtime member of the Burton Hill Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
He is survived by a sister, Ginger Tobin, of Rising Star, Texas; an aunt, Oletha Oldham of Saginaw, Texas; cousins Margaret Ainsworth, Marty Oldham and Mark Oldham of Texas; Milam cousins in and around Sterling, Oklahoma; and Oldham cousins in Oklahoma and surrounding areas. He is also survived by his friend, Tom Lewis, of Irving, Texas and his many friends at Rising Star Nursing Center in Rising Star, TX.

Arrangements are being handled by Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Rising Star New Life Church, 412 S. Miller, Rising Star, TX on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM. All are invited to attend.
