Alvadean Carolyn Janner – beloved mom, sister, friend, Granny, and Grandma Dean Dean – passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28th, 2019, at the age of 85.
Alvadean was born on September 8, 1934, to Theodore Leonard and Vada Viola (Tompkins) Janner in Llano. She grew up in Richland Springs and Brownwood; she remained a long time Brownwood resident. Over the course of her life, she was a factory worker, bookkeeper, restaurant owner and manager, secretary, and clerk. After retiring, she continued to work cleaning houses, cooking, chauffeuring, and caring for the elderly. Just a few months before she passed away, she was known to see job postings and wonder aloud whether she should apply.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pam Johnson and husband Lonnie of Salado; son, Chris Almgren and wife Michelle of Bangs; sister, Lanelle Moore of Springtown; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her much loved dog, Sam.
What they will remember most is her kindness and generosity. If Alvadean had the means to help a friend or family member in need, she did. They will also remember her big, twinkle-eyed smile – at times loving and kind and at other times mischievous and playful. They will remember that she truly lived and truly loved.
Alvadean was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daryl Almgren; sisters, Marjorie Cleo Knowles and Jenivie Pruett; and brothers-in-law, Coy Moore and D.C. Pruett.
A Celebration of Alvadean’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 4th, 2019, at Early First Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie Ailshie officiating; private interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will follow at Early First Baptist Church after the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Baylor Scott and White – Central Texas Foundation (2401 S. 31st St. MS-20-S103, Temple, Texas 76508).
