Funeral Services for Alma Nell Ward, age 86, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 8, 2011 at the Davis Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Cawthon officiating, interment to follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Ward passed away Saturday February 5, 2011 at Brownwood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brownwood.
Alma was born on November 1, 1924 in Brown County, Texas to John Thomas Hollingsworth and Annie (Smith) Hollingsworth. She married Amos Ward in September 1941 in Brown County. She was a homemaker and had lived in Brownwood since 2006.
Alma is survived by her husband Amos Ward of Brownwood; daughters, Pat Patton and husband Clayton of Brownwood, Peggy Starkes and husband Troy of Lubbock, and Pam Cawthon and husband Dennis of San Antonio; grandchildren, Amy Hoffner and husband Steve, Angela Patton, Brandy Stewart and husband Mark, and April Stephens and husband Ken; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two nieces, Janis Jones of Abilene and Betty Cox of Raonoke; and a nephew Bob Wilson of Elk City, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Edith Rice and Maedell Wilson; and a brother, Tilmon Hollingsworth.
