Funeral Services for Alma Leavern Doss, age 78, of Brownwood, will be held Sunday January 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Davis Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Jace Detrie officiating, interment to follow in Jordan Springs Cemetery under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Doss passed away Thursday morning in Brownwood.
Leavern was born on January 10, 1933 in Mt. Olive, Texas to Orville Lee and Myrtle (Mason) Harris. She married Gene Donald Doss on July 27, 1951 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She worked from the house tending to their farm and raising a family for many years before moving to Belton in the late 80’s to help start a family construction business, Gene Doss Construction. After retiring, they moved back home to Brownwood to spend the rest of their golden years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gene Doss of Brownwood; two sons, Gene Droyce Doss and wife Kathy of Belton, and Donald Doss of Round Rock; a daughter, Jerita Parson and husband Tommy of Brownwood; grandchildren, Justin Doss and wife Amy of San Antonio, Jared Doss and wife Jessica of Saginaw, Geanna Johnson and husband J.W of Brownwood., Jana Detrie and husband Jace of Tennesssee, Kelcy Hardin and husband Wade of Brownwood, Joel Doss of Belton, and Sarah Doss and Amanda Doss both of Round Rock; one of her biggest joys-great grandchildren, Andrew and Kyle Doss, and Owen Johnson; brothers, Robert Harris, Warren Harris and wife Janie, O.L. Harris and wife Verna, and Wayne Harris and wife Deanna; a sister, Euna V Marsh; and numerous other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray Vance Harris; and a great granddaughter Kaitlyn Olivia Doss.
