Alletta Brubaker Brasher, age 73, of Brownwood, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012.  After a lengthy illness, she went on to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She was born on October 10, 1938 in Brownwood to Tommy and Ruby Brubaker.

She attended Brownwood schools, as well as Howard Payne University.  During her school years, she enjoyed playing in the HPU Orchestra/Jazz Band and the San Angelo Symphony.

Alletta starting working at the age 14 for the F.W. Woolworth Company, where she worked until she graduated high school. She then worked for the telephone company, followed by employment at TXDOT, where she worked until retirement. She was a faithful member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church for 48 years, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

 

Alletta will be remembered most for her sweet spirit, humility, and loving-kindness, which she gave to all without reservation.  She treasured her relationship with Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends.  She was a lovely example of devotion to her husband and family. She will be missed greatly by all.

Alletta is survived by her husband, James, of 45 years; one son and his wife, Tim and Michelle Brasher of Brownwood; 3 grandchildren, Blake, Lilly and Abby Brasher, all from Brownwood; one brother and his wife, Don and Margaret Brubaker of Early.  She is also survived by 3 nephews:  Tony Brubaker of Killeen, Jerry Brubaker and wife Debbie of Corpus Christi, and Gary Brubaker of Austin.  She was preceded in death by her son Marty and both parents Tommy and Ruby Brubaker.

A memorial service will be held at Davis Morris Funeral Home at 2:00 pm, Thursday February 9, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday February 8, 2012.
