Heaven opened its gates for a faithful follower of our Lord on December 8, 2011. Allene Corley Brown was born on March 31, 1916 in Eldorado, Texas, to Sam Robertson and Ethel Lee Bray Robertson.
Allene graduated as Valedictorian of Lometa High School in 1936. Allene married Winfred Corley on May 28, 1936. Mr. Corley passed away on May 1, 1976. She later married Jim Lee Brown on August 23, 1981. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1999.
Mrs. Brown lived in Brown County most of her life and was a longtime member of Early First Baptist Church. Mrs. Brown is survived by her son Jim “David” Corley and wife, Patti of Colfax, Texas, daughter Patsy Gray and Jim Whitely of Early, Texas. She is also survived by her brother J.D. Robertson and wife, Elsie of Houston, Texas; her brother Samuel Robertson and wife, Jane of Wimberley, Texas; her sister Marie Goheen and husband, Tommy of Hereford, Texas; and a sister Juanita McKay and husband, Bobby of Bangs, Texas. Also left to cherish her memory are six grandchildren, Kymm Nixon, Kyla Gust, Jay Behrens, James Corley, Patrick Corley and Tony Bean. Mrs. Brown also leaves eleven great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, a son Bobby Don Corley, a sister Lorene Perry, and two great grandsons Justin Behrens and Landon Nixon.
Visitation was held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood. Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Early First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Zephyr Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
