The Texas Department of Public Safety Encourages Drivers to exercise caution when traveling. So far today State Troopers have worked less than ten crashes in the Big Country. Of those, only one was an injury crash.
A command center has been set up in Eastland County just in case the weather or traffic worsens. The National Guard is staged there and ready to assist.
The Texas Department of Transportation is ready with personnel and equipment to sand the bridges and elevated structures if necessary. Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are patrolling roadways.
If the temperature drops after sunset, the wet roadways may ice over. Bridges and elevated structures are normally the first things to freeze. Motorists that find it necessary to travel should always keep safety in mind.
