Funeral services for Alice Vivian Morris, age 96, of Brownwood will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2 PM at Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. No visitation is scheduled. Mrs. Morris died Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Alice was born October 19, 1919 in Paoli, Oklahoma to James Ruben and Ila K. (Poole) Smith. She attended Texas Christian University for two years before going on to Daniel Baker College; where she graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Alice married Ernest Morris in 1940. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and through the years, she was a second mother to hundreds of children. She was a member of the Parent Teacher Association and worked for the Brownwood Cattle Auction, with both having large herds of unruly things. Alice was a hard worker, and at the age of 85, she worked three jobs!
She is survived by her sons, Jim Morris and Bob Morris; grandchildren, Jim Morris, Jr, Kael Morris, David Morris, Paul Morris and Tish Morris and 13 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Morris; brother Jim Smith and sister, Mildred Chapman.
