Funeral services for Alice Eldora Stembridge, 71, of Bangs, Texas will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Bangs with Pastor Brian Hall and Pastor Bobby Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Alice passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 in Brownwood.
Alice Cox was born in Brownwood, Texas to Noble and Blanche Cox on September 18, 1943. She later met the love of her life, Henry Stembridge who came here from Bakersfield, California. They were married on April 8, 1960 in Bangs, at her parents’ house on her mother’s birthday. They had two children, Lisa and Jerry. Henry precede her in death in 1972, and Jerry preceded her in death in 1996
Alice spent 28 years managing the Allsup’s Convenience Store in Bangs. She was the only manager the store ever had until she became ill with cancer in 2010. She then began her long battle with cancer.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Stembridge of Bangs; two grandsons, Blake Stembridge and Levi Stembridge of Bangs and one great grandson. She also is survived by dear friends Jerry and Teresa Roberts and family and Barbara Vogel and family.Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Stembridge; son, Jerry Stembridge; parents, Noble and Blanche Cox and dear friends Herman and Greg Vogel.
