Alfred “Roy” Leroy Lammons, age 84, of Bangs passed away in his home on Monday August 23, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Thursday August 26, 2010 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Jenkins Springs Cemetery. Brother Ruben Packer will officiate the services. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday August 25, 2010 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Roy Lammons was born September 24, 1925 in Gustine, TX, to Martin and Cordia Lammons. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Roy fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and received three purple hearts during his service. He worked as a truck driver for most of his life. After Roy retired he became a greeter at Wal-Mart. He said it was the most rewarding job he had ever held. Roy enjoyed the outdoors, especially in Colorado. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Victory Baptist Church of Brownwood. The people who knew him best described Roy as a kind and loving father, grandfather, and friend.
Mr. Lammons was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years; Irene Lammons, his parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
He is survived by 3 sons; Charlie Lammons and wife Jeanette of Ft. Worth, Roy Lammons and wife Euteva of Round Rock and Kenneth Lammons and wife Pamela of Fritch, 3 daughters; Margarett Hallford and husband Teddy of San Angelo, Mary Crumb of Temple and Linda Blythe and husband Darrell of Early, 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
