Funeral services for Alfred Lee Stone will be Thursday March 22, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Rising Star Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral Home.

Mr. Stone passed away Monday at the Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. He was born July 21, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Iron A. and Emma Worthy Stone. On January 5, 1979 he was married to June Allen in Red Oak, Texas. He was employed by Shepps Milk Products for 35 years, and later worked for Pepsi as a route salesman.

Mr. Stone’s greatest passion was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He would attend a game that his grandsons were playing against each other. He would sit on one side the first half, and then sit on the other side the last half.

He also enjoyed attending city council meetings, with his wife serving on the council he could get the latest information first hand. He also enjoyed fishing.

 

Alfred served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Bennington.

He is survived by his wife Gloria June Stone of Rising Star, Texas, one daughter Kelly and husband Chris Jones of Rising Star, three sons; Tim and wife Nettie Stone of Rising Star, Tom Stone of Rising Star, and Jeff and wife Leah Phillips of May. Also his grandchildren; Jennifer and husband David Jones, Carlissa and husband Donnie Childers, Brandon Sanders, Blair Stone, Christopher Jones, Katherine Stone, Courtney Jones and Jeremy Phillips. His four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters Katherine and husband Rodney Gant of Plano, and Marie Stone of Fairfield, two brothers-in-law Vernon and wife Nancy Crump of Plano and Bobby and wife Annette of Wills Point.

He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Stone, his parents, and one son Kevin Lee Stone.
