Alex Hetzel, representing Brownwood FFA, was crowned Miss Brown County Fair Association 2016 at the annual awards and premium sale Saturday night.

Alex is the daughter of Keith and Staci Hetzel of Brownwood.  She is a senior at Brownwood High School.  She serves as the captain of the Brownwood Lionettes, is active in the mentoring program, national honor society, Health Occupations Student Association, Future Farmers of America and 4-H.  Alex began showing horses, goats, rabbits and pigs when she was 9 and plans to add a lamb next year.

Other candidates for Miss BCFA included 1st runner up Hope Heard of Blanket, 2nd runner up Jessica Armour of Blanket, and third runner up Adrianna Bernal of Brownwood.   Each contestant was escorted into the sale arena by their fathers.

These girls worked hard to prove themselves on five levels:  BCYFA Membership Sales, Poise & Appearance, Personality, Public Speaking, and their participation in the Youth Fair.

Membership sales by the Youth Fair Queen competition is the main fundraiser for the Brown County Fair Association and proceeds benefit the upkeep of facilities and enhancement of the premium sale.  Memberships were sold for $20/family and also entitled member families to eat free at the annual barbeque that is held during Rodeo Week in June.
