Law enforcement officers in three Central Texas counties are warning residents that a suspicious person has been stopping vehicles in the area using a car with police-type lights and no police markings.
Three incidents have been reported, one each to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division. The three agencies are working together to try to determine whether the reported incidents may be related to each other.
Information on the three incidents:
Bell County: On Sunday, Oct. 3, at 12:45 a.m., a man was pulled over by a vehicle with lights inside the vehicle on the dashboard. The suspect told the man that he was committing several traffic violations and demanded money in exchange for not transporting the man to jail. The stop occurred southeast of Killeen.
Williamson County: On Sunday, Oct 24, at 6 p.m., a woman was pulled over by a vehicle with lights inside the vehicle on the dashboard. The suspect took personal property and money from the woman. The stop occurred south of Florence.
Mills/Coryell County: On Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3:30 p.m., a juvenile was stopped by what appeared to be a police officer. The stop took place on U.S. 84 somewhere near the Mills/Coryell county line. The vehicle was described as a passenger car with police-type lights. The suspect questioned the girl and let her go.
