Explorer

Two vehicles collided near the Head Start building at Avenue D and Durham as parents began arriving to pick up their children on Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 4:30pm, a Ford Explorer was traveling southeast on Durham Avenue when it failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming passenger car which was traveling south west on Avenue D.  No injuries were reported at the time of the accident.

A possible mechanical failure may have caused the accident according to the owner of the Ford Explorer who was on scene but not driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.   A relative was driving the vehicle when the accident occurred.  The owner’s infant son was one of the occupants; however appeared to be uninjured.

Both vehicles were damaged and towed from the scene.  The Explorer had front-end damage (pictured above) and the Buick had damage to its passenger side front quarter panel.
