Brownwood News – On September 8th, at approximately 11:10 pm, a Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a white Dodge pickup for failure to display illuminated tail lamps at the intersection of 15th Street and Coggin Avenue in Brownwood. As the deputy was walking towards the vehicle, the vehicle took off heading Southbound on 14th Street and a pursuit was then initiated on the vehicle.
The pursuit ended at 4th Street (Southside Village Apartments), where the vehicle wrecked into a parked vehicle and the driver fled on foot. The driver, who was identified as Peter Acevedo, age 39, was caught and detained. After searching the area where the pursuit took place, a softball sized zipper bag was located.
The zipper bag contained 81.0 grams of methamphetamine, with packaging, 2.0 grams of marijuana, with packaging, a small scale, and several small plastic baggies. Acevado was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 4G<200G w/ Intent to deliver in Drug Free Zone, Possession of Marijuana < 2 oz in Drug Free Zone, Evading w/ Vehicle, and Evading arrest/detention.

- 1:21 a.m. Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to N. Hwy 183 for a domestic disturbance. A female suspect was arrested for assaulting her mother.
- 7:49 a.m. A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to CR 294 regarding a Burglary of a Habitation call. The complainant stated he discovered his prescription of pain medication had been stolen from his residence a report was made.
- (No Time Noted) Units were dispatched to East US HWY 377 in reference to a reckless driver, who was driving on the wrong side of the highway. The vehicle was stopped just east of Blanket near CR 358. The driver was an elderly female, who seemed to be somewhat disoriented and confused. She was transported by EMS to be checked out. She was found to be listed as a missing person out of Peoria, IL. The Adult Protective Services department was contacted.
- 3:14 p.m. A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to CR 143 on a criminal trespass call. Upon my arrival, I met with the complainant, who stated he had video evidence that his property was trespassed on by an individual who had an active trespass warning. A report was made.
- (No Time Noted) A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy spoke with a complainant about a traffic stop where he had been detained by a possible police impersonator. A report was made.
September 9th
- 10:28 a.m. A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to Tipperary Lane on an Assault Family Violence /Criminal Mischief call. Upon arrival, the deputy was met by the complainant, who stated his fiancé had assaulted him causing him pain, and had used a pick axe to damage his truck. A report was made.
- 6:36 p.m. A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 GMC pickup for defective high mount brake lamp. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Gable Sanchez, the deputy could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, and noticed Sanchez’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy. The deputy had the driver perform the standard field sobriety tests and then placed Sanchez under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
