snowAn upper level storm system will move across west central Texas today and tonight. Abundant moisture combined with cold temperatures has resulted in a mix of wintry precipitation across west central Texas which will continue through tonight.

The best chance for accumulating sleet and snow will be along and north of a Sterling City to Brownwood line where temperatures will be the coldest. Areas south of that line will see more rain than snow with little or no accumulation.

Temperatures remain a critical element in this event. Readings of only a few degrees colder would allow the wintry mix to change over to more accumulating snowfall for much of the area. Slightly warmer temperatures could result in a cold rain with little or no snow accumulation.

A winter weather advisory means those periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
