A. L. Minica, age 71, of Blanket, died Tuesday, January 17, at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Friday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Blanket Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
He was born on September 13, 1940, the son of the late Lon and Juanita Baker Minica in Brownwood, Texas. He was married to Nelda Hanks and they celebrated 45 years of marriage.
A. L. was also known as “Daddy”, “PA” or “Uncle Al”, a real mountain of a man.
A. L. loved to hunt anytime he could. He loved to entertain people by being silly with his noises and stories. He loved his family very strongly.
Al worked in the oilfield and cowboyed in his earlier years in West Texas, later becoming a master plumber working for H. E. Hanks Plumbing in the early 70’s. He lived in Blanket for the past 40 years. He also served in the U. S. Marine Corps. from 1957 -1958.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Minica of Blanket, One daughter, Sue Davis and husband Edwin of Blanket , 3 Sons – Terry Minica and wife Shannon of Midland
Tom Hickey of Brownwood, Tim Hickey and wife Carla of Mt. Vernon, Ohio A Sister – Betty Wilson and husband Paul of San Saba, 19 Grandchildren and 34 Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews, numerous Aunts and Uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sissy Minica and a brother.
Funeral Services will be held at the Heartland Funeral Chapel at 10:00am on Friday, January 20, graveside services to follow at Blanket Cemetery.
