BowlForKidsSake2013LogoBig Brothers Big Sisters of Brown County will kick-off the 7th Annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising with a ‘Have a Heart for BBBS’ Team meeting Monday, February 18th at 5:30 pm in the Conference Room at Family Services Center. Those who ‘Have a Heart’ for matching children in Brown County with caring adults to help them reach their fullest potential are encouraged to attend.

Virtual Bowling is an option this year for those who wish to help out on their own. Raise money to support BBBS and compete for prizes and awards against other virtual bowlers.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake will be held April 6th at Academy Lanes in Brownwood. Bowling teams are made up of 5-6 bowlers. Each team member is asked to raise $100 or more. That amounts to each participant asking 10 people for $10. Teams can raise money individually or collectively. There will be two sessions for teams to come celebrate their success at Bowl for Kids’ Sake; 10 am or noon. Teams may choose the session they prefer on a first-come basis. Teams can register online at bowlforkidssake.org, Academy Lanes or by calling the BBBS office at 325-643-5600.

The Team Meeting Schedule is:

Family Services Center 5:30 p.m.

Feb. 18th—Have a Heart for BBBS—Kick-Off Celebration

March 4th—March in Like a Lion—Team Rosters Due

March 18th—Love the Green—Prize for whoever wears the most green!

April 1st—We’re no Fools! – Donations Due for Early Bird Top Fundraiser

April 6th—Bowl For Kids Sake

Academy Lanes, KOXE, Cici’s Pizza and Pepsico host the celebration. Sponsorships from local businesses help to underwrite the event. T-shirts, awards, prizes and a silent auction are made possible through local donors.

Research shows that through the positive impact of a match relationship, children are more likely to graduate from high school and less likely to engage in high-risk behaviors or use violence in a conflict.  In short, they will have more opportunity to reach their highest potential with the encouragement that an additional adult mentor can add to their life. Volunteers are asked to spend time with a child at least twice a month.
