Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs released the following statement regarding the arrest of a 71-year-old Brownwood man along with another unrelated case, both involving child pornography:
Over the past few weeks, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office has assisted in two major investigations involving the receipt of and distribution of child pornography. Both investigations are independent and currently believed to be unrelated. One investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and the other by the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
On Tuesday, December 13, 2011, Brown County Deputies assisted the United States Department of Homeland Security (ICE) in a Federal investigation where a Federal search warrant was executed in rural Brown County at 8010 County Road 606. At the residence, evidence to support the distribution and possession of child pornography was seized by investigators. No arrests were made at the residence, but arrests are expected in the near future as the investigation continues. The forensic analysis of computers is currently being conducted by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
On Wednesday, December 14, 2011, in a separate and unrelated investigation, Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted investigators with the Texas Attorney General’s Office in the execution of a search warrant at 2506 Greenway in Brownwood. David E. Simpson (pictured above), a white male, 71-years of age was arrested and charged with 7 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. At the residence, evidence to support the distribution and possession of Child Pornography was seized by investigators. In this investigation, the Texas Attorney General’s Office is the lead agency and has been assisted by Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigators over the past few weeks. Simpson is being held in the Brown County Jail pending bond.
In both of these cases, the investigations are ongoing by the lead agencies and with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office assistance. It is fully expected that additional arrests will be made as the investigations continue to develop.
