Local radio station KOXE/KBWD, located at 300 Carnegie, partnered up with local businesses to collect toys and monetary donations to benefit the Toys for Kids program. This 5th Annual Two-Steppin’ for Toys brought in cash donations of $7007 and so many toys they lost count, including 8 bicycles which proved that this year’s event was a success.
Each hour, a new business took to the streets to draw attention to the effort. This year, 19 businesses with a total of 45 employees volunteered. These businesses host their own toy drive and then sign up to work an hour in front of the radio station to gather money from passersby and ask for toy donations.
Over the 5 year history of Two-Steppin’ for Toys, the event to date has gathered $32,000 in cash and 8,000 toys benefiting needy kids in the area.
Familys participating in the Toys for Kids program will be able to pick up toys on Saturday.
