Brownwood News – It is hay season in this part of the country.  The hay harvest started a grass fire early Wednesday afternoon on property about two miles northwest of Early.

According to Early Fire Chief, Chad Hill, it is believed a bearing went out on a hay baler which started the fire.  The baler burned but the tractor was saved.  Two bales of hay and about two acres were consumed, Hill said.

In the photo, smoke can be seen beyond the tree line.
