BrownwoodNews – Congratulations to our January 2019 Spotlight teacher, Ms. Veronica Ballenger! Ms. Ballenger is an 8th grade English teacher at Brownwood Middle School, where she has been teaching for 3 years.

She was born and raised in San Antonio, and graduated from Luther Burbank High School.

She received an Associate degree from Butler County Community College in Wichita, Kansas before completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Wichita State University, graduating with honors (Magna Cum Laude) in 2007.

Ms. Ballenger continually looks for innovative ways to reach her students. By building positive relationships, she is able to connect and challenge each student to grow and build their creativity. Ms. Ballenger works hard to instill a genuine love of reading in all of her students. Ms. Ballenger’s English class students appreciate her dedication and love having her as a teacher.

Brownwood ISD thanks Ms. Ballenger for her work with our students, her creativity in the classroom, and her passion for finding effective ways to teach them the importance of reading.

Mr. Leland Holmes is our January 2019 Spotlight staff member. Mr.Holmes is a Special Education Teacher’s Aide at Brownwood High worked for Federal Express from 1986 to 2017 before coming to Brownwood ISD. Mr. Holmes has worked in the Special Education department for the last two years.

With an upbeat and positive attitude, Mr. Holmes is known to be wonderful with the kids. He always has a smile and a kind word for everyone he encounters.

His co-workers praise his abilities, noting how well the students respond to him, and even stating he’s the best aide they’ve worked with. Brownwood ISD is grateful to have staff members like Mr. Holmes, who are encouraging, kind, and continue to have a such positive impact on our students and staff.
