BrownwoodNews – A winner has been selected for the 3rd Annual Brownwood ISD (BISD) Holiday Card Contest!
This year, Brownwood High School (BHS) Sophomore and Art II student, Jenica Villalpando’s design will be used for the official BISD card. Ms. Villalpando’s artwork was selected from among the other 18 final entries in the contest.
Begun in 2016, BISD Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young instituted the contest to highlight the talent of BISD students, while creatively sending out holiday wishes from BISD personnel. “It’s a tough competition, and I am always amazed at the talent of our students,” said Dr. Young. “With so many great entries, I am glad I don’t have the singular task of selecting a winner.”
BISD administrators, the Board of Trustees, as well as the District’s Leadership and Learning committee members all cast votes for the winning design. The artwork with the most votes is then selected to be used as the design for the card.
Each year, BISD students are encouraged to enter the contest by producing an original piece of art for consideration. Each campus then has the opportunity to submit five designs as finalists to be considered in the voting process.
Ms. Villalpando is a student in Ms. Kimberly Van Huss’s art program at BHS. BISD would like to thank all of the participants in this year’s contest and congratulate Ms. Villalpando on her creative design for this year’s card.
