BrownwoodNews – Contractors for the Texas Department of Transportation will be conducting maintenance work on a few heavily-traveled roadways in the immediate Brownwood and Early areas beginning on or about April 17.

Drivers can expect daily alternating lane closures on a three-mile section of Early Boulevard/Commerce Street (U.S. 67), from near Early Primary School to near the Stripes store at Commerce and Austin Avenue/SH 279. Crews will then relocate to FM 2126 (Access Road), to perform the maintenance from FM 2525 (Williams Ranch Road) west towards FM 45.

Crews will begin work at around 7 a.m. each day. The entire project is scheduled to last about a week.

The maintenance work will consist of using a relatively new pavement texturizing process to provide enhanced vehicle traction on these busy roadways.

TxDOT’s Brownwood District includes Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba and Stephens counties.
