Rodeo fans lined the streets of downtown Brownwood to enjoy the 50th Annual Brown County Rodeo Parade Saturday morning.
More than 70 entries made up this year’s parade. Cowboys and cowgirls on horses, beauty queens, public officials, cheerleaders and many supporting businesses rode horses, ATVs, floats, along with new and antique vehicles. The Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office led the parade, and BPD unveiled their new police car logo and design.
Another highlight was a preview from the Lyric Performing Arts Company’s upcoming performance for the “Wizard of Oz.” Their specially made float showcased the characters from the show as well as students currently enrolled in the summer children’s camp.
Saturday night will be the final performance of the rodeo, which will begin at 8:00 PM at the Earl Q. Wilson Arena/ Brown County Youth Fair Grounds on Hwy 377 S. Tickets at the gate are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12.
The Brown County Rodeo dance will close out rodeo week Saturday night. This year’s dance will feature The Remains and Reckless Kelly. Dance tickets are $20 at the door with no cooler charge. Doors open for the dance at 8 PM.
