STATE 4-H ROUND UP MEETING
If you are participating in State Round Up Contest there is a MANDATORY MEETING on Tuesday June 4th at 5:30p.m. There needs to be a parent present with the 4-Her who is going to be participating at Roundup. All money will need to be paid at this time. If you have any questions please contact Nick Gonzales.
JUNIOR AND INTERMEDIATE FASHION SHOW
If you are interested in participating in the Junior and Intermediate Fashion Show please contact Kim Miles at the Extension Office. We are tentatively setting a date for the County Fashion Show for June 20, 2013 depending on how many entries we have. The District Fashion Show is set for July 16, 2013 at Grape Creek Baptist Church in Grape Creek, Texas. Registration opens on 4-H Connect on June 21st and closes on July 1st. RECORD BOOKS
It is that time to start putting your record book together. If you are planning on putting a record book together here is the website to find the forms and other information you may need for your record book http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/youth_recordbooks. Record Books will be due to the Extension Office for review on June 3rd and they are due back to the Extension Office for judging on July 1st. If you need assistance with your record book or have any questions contact Nick Gonzales at the Extension Office.
LEADERSHIP LAB
Join us as we take the “Journey” to the 2013 District 7 Leadership Lab in Sacramento, New Mexico! The event will be held June 25-28, 2013. Come and join other 4-Her’s from District 7 and join the fun as we work together to build leadership skills and character necessary for success! There will be three outstanding and innovative sessions that will help build your leadership and teamwork skills while having a blast! They include:
- Challenge Course Activities
- Leaders 4 Life Program
- Outdoor Activities
4-H members who are eligible according to their District by-laws can run for a District Office on
their District Council. We are looking for a strong group of candidates to run and lead District 7 for the 2013-2014 year! If you are interested in running for an office or learning how you can
pursue this in the future; talk with Nick Gonzales before it is too late.
Applications for District 7 are due June 3, 2013
Registration deadline is June 3rd on 4-H Connect. The cost for the Leadership Lab is $300.00. The cost includes meals, lodging, t-shirt, and much more! If you would like more information contact Nick Gonzales.
EE HOBBY AND CRAFT FAIR
The Brown County EE Clubs host an annual Hobby and Craft Fair and it is opened to all ages and to the public. This would be a great opportunity to show off your crafts that you made at the Brown County Youth Fair. The Hobby and Craft Fair will be on June 5, 2013 at The Depot. Registration and acceptance of entries begins at 9:30a.m. There will be programs, door prizes, and a free lunch. If you would like more information contact Kim Miles at the Extension Office.
2013 TEXAS 4-H ROPING SCHOOL
On June 16-20, 2013, the Statewide Texas 4-H Calf Roping and Break-A-Way School will be held in Stephenville, Texas. The school will be held at the Tarleton State University Equine Arena. This event encourages young people in 4-H to develop leadership ability and to exercise their abilities in working with younger members in roping activities. Participation is open to all districts of the state, with applications being accepted on a first-come, first- serve basis with first priority to those boys and girls who are 12 years of age and older.
The cost for the school is $380.00. This will include group insurance, meals, lodging, stall rent for one horse and will cover the cost of practice calves used in the teaching process. Most meals will be taken in the Tarleton State University Dining Hall. All students will be housed at the University Dormitories. Students will not be allowed to stay elsewhere. TAYLOR COUNTY 4-H TEXAS A&M HORSE CLINIC
The Taylor County 4-H Horse Club will again host a horsemanship clinic. All ages are welcome to attend and learn about basic horsemanship, tack, bitting and horse theft awareness. The dates for the clinic are June 19th & 20th. The clinic will begin at 8:00a.m.and will end at 4:00p.m. It will be held at the Taylor County Fairgrounds (Abilene, Texas) in the covered outdoor arena. The cost for the clinic is $110 for both days and that includes drinks and snacks. The cost for stalls is $20 each and hookups are $25. Lunch will be on your own. 4-H GOLF CHALLENGE WEST!
The 2013 4-H Golf Challenge for the west region will be on July 22, 2013. The Golf Challenge will take place at the Hideout Golf Club in Brownwood, Texas. Registration opens May 20th and closes on July 13th on 4-H Connect. Registration is $105 per team but must register individually as a 3 person team at $35 each. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf and a catered lunch. All 4-H ages welcome! If you would like more information contact Nick Gonzales.

- County Camp 1 – Dates of Camp July 1st – July 3rd, cost for camp is $175
- Mission Possible – Dates of Camp July 7th – July 10th, cost for camp is $175
- County Camp II(Brown County) – Dates of Camp July 8th – July 10th, cost for camp is $175
- County Camp III – Dates of Camp July 10th – July 13th, cost for camp is $225
- Prime Time I – Grades 5th-8th, Dates of Camp July 21st – July 24th, cost for camp is $225
- Prime Time II – Grades 2nd – 5th, Dates of Camp July 24th – July 27th, cost for camp is $225

4-H ENROLLMENT IS OPEN ON 4-H CONNECT!
All 4-H families, new and returning, are encouraged to log in and enroll in order to become an official 4-H member. If you want to become an adult leader or volunteer we encourage you to enroll for the 2012-2013 year. The web site for 4-H CONNECT is www.4honline.com. There is no cost for adult leaders or adult volunteers. As you enroll in 4-H for the year, here are some tips in using 4-H CONNECT:
• If you already have a profile DO NOT create another one!
• If you lost your email and password call the county office we can tell you your e-mail address and reset your password!
• To be an official 4-H member in Texas 4-H you must have an ACTIVE profile in 4-H CONNECT!
• An active membership will not be granted until the $25.00 participation fee is paid on 4-H Connect!
• You cannot register for an event until your profile is ACTIVE.
• When you are doing your re-enrollment for the 2012-2013 4-H Year please make sure you update your address, phone number, and e-mail address.
• You can use your Spaghetti Luncheon Fundraiser Voucher to pay your membership dues. To do this you will have to come into the extension office to enroll.
