Welcome to the 2011-2012 4-H year and what a great year it is going to be in 4-H in Brown County! The Texas AgriLife Extension Service and its employees are committed to the education and development of the youth of Texas to be the future leaders of our state, country, and world. We are proud of more than 104 years of providing life development opportunities and look forward to the future and the opportunities it brings for our program and our youth.
ONE DAY 4-H (OCTOBER 8TH)
October 8, 2011 will be another great day for the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program as that it is the date for the 2nd Annual One Day 4-H event throughout our state. One Day 4-H is one day for all the 4-H members, parents, leaders, and volunteers to step out into their communities and county and say “thank you” by giving back for their more than 103 years of support to 4-H in Texas. This day of community service is whatever each 4-H members, club, or county 4-H Program wants it to be.
This year Brown County 4-H will be giving back to the community by helping at the Fall Festival and Community Garden on October 8th. We will meet at the Extension Office at 9:30am on that Saturday and then go to the Community Garden as a group. Some of us will work in the garden and others will help with the festival, which is at the same location. Please bring gloves if you have them and wear proper attire for working outside. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Extension Office. I hope to see a lot of participation!! Please contact the Extension Office if you are planning on participating.

PAPER CLOVER CAMPAIGN AT TRACTOR SUPPLY: SEPTEMBER 21ST-OCT.2ND, 2011
Tractor Supply stores in communities across the country have long supported 4-H Clubs, and now, Tractor Supply Co. has entered into an official partnership with the National 4-H Council as your National 4-H Project Headquarters.
This means that Tractor Supply will help raise money for county 4-H programs with the Paper Clover Campaign, a national in-store fundraiser that benefits state and local 4-H programming. 70% of funds raised will be awarded to Brown County 4-H and 30% to National 4-H Council. Our local Tractor Supply Co. raised the most money in this region during the spring 2011 Paper Clover Campaign; so let’s help them become number one in the state, while supporting Brown County 4-H at the same time during this campaign.
The fall promo promises to be even stronger, and will be tied in to National 4-H Week. Show your support for the Brown County 4-H program by just adding a $1 at checkout. Be sure to spread the word about 4-H’s Revolution of Responsibility at your local TSC during Paper Clover!!
2011 MOBILE CLOVER CAMPAIGN WITH STRIPES CONVENIENT STORES

The Texas 4-H Foundation is pleased to announce the continuation of our 4-H alliance with Stripes Convenience Stores. Helping Today’s Kids Become Tomorrow’s Leaders has begun and will run through October 2, 2011. Mobile Campaigns are important to Stripes, because of their ability to create a direct company partnership with customers to raise funds for deserving causes. Stripes focuses its charitable efforts exclusively on programs designed to enhance the health and education of youth residing in the communities served by the company. What better fit than the Texas 4-H Youth and Development Program for their efforts.
Stop in at a Stripes convenient store and be sure and participate in the Mobile Clover Campaign for only a $1. Proceeds from the mobiles sold will be donated to the Brown County 4-H program. When you are purchasing a clover, you are supporting 4-H in your county. Spread the word!
