3M Manufacturing of Brownwood and Domtar Personal Care of Waco have partnered with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to provide job training for 145 new and incumbent workers using a $262,809 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The grant will benefit workers in the Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas area.
This grant will be used to provide customized training to 145 new and incumbent workers for industry-related topics with focused instruction on advanced motor controls, laser and radiation maintenance, electrical and plant engineering systems, and quality control. Trainees will include electrical and industrial technicians, mechanics, raw material coordinators, process technicians and maintenance operators. Upon completion of training, the workers will receive an average wage of $17.61.TWC Chairman Andres Alcantar will present a check to representatives from TSTC and partnering businesses at an 11:30 a.m. ceremony to be held in the Atrium of the Industrial Technology Center at 101 Campus Drive in Waco.
