deerprojectThe Second Annual Cow Pasture Golf Classic & Sporting Clay Event Benefiting “The Deer Project” of Good Samaritan Ministries is scheduled for August 28th.

The event will be held at the Wilson Ranch Golf Course (Weldon and Dub Wilson’s Ranches) located 5.2 miles south on Country Club Road (County Road 225) off of Loop 2126 between 377 and Hwy 45 south of the Kohler plant, there is a rock entrance on right.  Look for balloons at the gates and signs along the way.

Entry: Golf is limited to the first 22 – 3 man teams.  Sporting clay events available for youth, women, and men.   Call (325) 643-6328 or email: office@goodsambwd.org.  Include your name, contact number, the event you want to participate in and how many will be attending with you.  Call SOON to reserve your spot for Golf, Clays, and/or the meal.  RSVP required.

Cost: FREE except for donations and we need some big ones!  The cost of this event has been covered by sponsors, so all donations will go to the “Deer Project” for Good Samaritan Ministries to pay for deer processing of donated deer which will be given to those in need.  Last year 6,000 lbs. of venison was donated, providing 20,916 meals – and we want to double that this year.

Food: Sausage wraps will be available starting around 11:30 am.  The evening meal will include Sirloin Steak and Quail cooked on-site and will be catered by Buppy’s from Bryan, Texas.  NO alcoholic beverages allowed on the Ranches.  Drinking water & tea provided at no charge.

Format for Golf:

  1. 3 man scramble
  2. Shotgun start with 2 – 3 man teams per group.
  3. Play each hole from the designated tee area.
  4. The course is rough, deep and unforgiving, so play the ball up 1 club length or to the nearest grass, cow patty, or fire ant mound (do not play from a location that will damage a club)
  5. Five minute limit on searching for ball.  If lost take a drop near where you think it went and take a ½ stroke penalty.
  6. Leave wildlife alone.  Critters should not be bothered except for rattlesnakes and copperheads.  Feel free to use your clubs on these (at your own risk).
  7. There will be a long drive contest and a closest to the pin contest.
  8. Rental clubs (garage sale type) are available.
  9. Bring your own ride (pickup, golf cart, mule, horse, or whatever)
  10. Trophies (with bragging rights) will be awarded for lowest score, highest score, longest drive and closest to the pin (or bucket or whatever is on that particular hole!)

Sporting Clays Event:

  1. Open to men, women and youth
  2. Bring your shotgun and plenty of shells
  3. Furnish your own eye protection and ear protection and ear protection
  4. Guns remain open until ready to shoot
  5. No more than two shells in gun at one time
  6. Bring your own lawn chair

12:30 Golf: Tee-off shotgun start

         Sporting clays: Flush presentation, Annie Oakley, high incoming clay birds, etc.

5:30 Dinner and awards

If you can’t play golf or shoot a shotgun and want to participate, all are welcome.  Come to the dinner or come early and watch.  If you come and don’t participate, just bring your checkbook.  Call 325-643-6328 for reservations for dinner, golf and sporting clays.
