Press Release – Guy Andrews, Brownwood Municipal Development District Executive Director announced 2016 to be a “great year” for new construction and businesses opening in Brownwood. In a recent publication, the BMDD noted several new businesses and construction for the year, and looked forward to continued progress in 2017.

Noted in his email were:

  • Starbucks Coffee opened inside of United Supermarkets at 302 East Commerce.  
  • Brownwood Regional Medical Center opened One Source Express Care Clinic located inside of United Supermarket at 300 East Commerce. Clinic hours are 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Shannon Young DeLaCruz, FNP-C will serve as the clinic provider.
  • The Cotton Patch Cafe and McAlister’s Deli both opened on November 1st at the Shoppes at Pecan Bayou at 400 E. Commerce.  
  • Commerce Plaza received a facelift. Commerce Plaza includes Little Caesars, Dino’s Phone Repair, One Main Financial, Boost Mobile, and
    CASHMAX Title & Loan.
  • Murphy USA opened a new convenience store and gas station at 403 W. Commerce at the entrance to the Walmart Supercenter.
  • Los Cazadores Mexican Food Restaurant completed their expansion at 2607 US-377 South.
  • Green Acres Equipment Rental opened at their new location at 1100 Riverside Drive. 
  • Construction nears completion at the Hendrick Surgical Center near the east of Brownwood Regional Medical Center. 
  • The DaVita Dialysis Center at 2511 Crockett Drive has been completed and is awaiting occupancy.
  • The Brownwood Women’s Clinic OB GYN opened a new facility at 98 South Park Drive.
  • Barron’s Automotive is approaching completion of their main office and shops. The new auto dealership is located behind the Whataburger in the retail center that includes Big Lots and Tractor Supply on East Commerce. 
  • The Waterstone Gated condo community is well underway.  
  • Steve Browder, Duckhorn Developers, completed two new homes in the Duckhorn subdivision off of Indian Creek Road, and has cleared a site for the construction of a new home at Duckhorn Drive and Sam Houston Drive in the Duckhorn subdivision. 
  • Construction has begun on the Indian Creek Townhome development at Indian Creek Road and Milam Drive.  This development by Trafalgar Rentals of Stephenville will feature 110 non-income based luxury townhomes, each having its own private back yard.  
  • Wright Asphalt began operations at its new facility at 1505 Custer Road. Wright Asphalt is currently undergoing an expansion that will add 5 tanks, an additional building, two scales, and an additional rail spur for polymer products.  
  • Lortscher Animal Nutrition Inc. (LANI) completed their Brownwood Mix facility at 1600 Custer Road.  
  • W.T. Harris added a new 90,000 square foot warehouse to its existing facility at 2908 Stephen F Austin Drive. 
  • T.G. Mercer leased 15 acres in the Industrial Park for the storage of pipe that will be used in the construction of an oil and condensate pipeline. Enterprise Products Partners LP (EPP) is constructing a 416-mile, 24-in. crude and condensate pipeline between Midland and Sealy, Tex., west of Houston. The pipeline, with capacity of 540,000 b/d, will connect the company’s Midland terminal with storage at Sealy. An interconnect with the 88-mile, 36-in. Rancho II pipeline scheduled to begin service in July, would link Sealy with the Enterprise Crude Houston (Echo) terminal.  
  • Accurate Air Solutions, Commercial and Industrial HVAC Sales and Service opened at 2400 Stephen F. Austin Drive.
  • Scott’s Stuff is now open at 801 North Fisk.  Scott’s Stuff is a “one stop shop” for custom wood décor with a wide variety of unfinished cutouts.  
  • The Tobacco, Treasure, and Fun Parlor recently opened at 201 Main Street featuring sweepstakes games and gift items, tobacco, and tobacco accessories. 
  • The Hen House Boutique & Uniques and Wild Indian Jewelry Company opened at 825 W. Commerce Street.
  • The Donut Palace opened its second location in Brownwood at 2904 Highway 377 S (the corner of Highway 377 South and Avenue B) and features dine in and a drive through window.
  • First Central Credit Union opened at 1602 Austin Avenue. 
  • The Brownwood Country Club is undergoing extensive renovations and additions.  These include a second floor that will contain workout facilities, shower rooms, spa, salon and other amenities. The second floor also has a deck that overlooks the lake, swimming pool, and cabana.  The dining facilities and bar are undergoing expansions and refurbishments that will eventually include space for larger events.  A new indoor/outdoor pavilion is being constructed that will host live concerts and other events.
  • The newly constructed Central Texas Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day, November 11, 2016.
