The first day of livestock showing at the 61st Annual Brown County Youth Fair got off to a great start Wednesday with breeding goats, sheep and swine followed by breeding and market rabbit shows. Students from across Brown County gathered to show off the results of their hard work for the past months.
The rainy day didn’t affect the activity in the barns; attendees along with participants trudged through the messy parking lot and enjoyed the show.
Over 2000 entries and 600 exhibitors are participating in the BCYF shows this year, according to officials.
Judges for the day were Harley Belk of Winters for Angora Breeding Goats, John Edwards of Stephenville for the sheep and goat shows, Zachary Wilcox of Sweetwater for swine and ARBA Judge, Frank Farrow of Lufkin for rabbits.
2013 Miss Brown County Youth Fair Association candidates assisted judges in the arena with ribbons and belt buckles. Candidates this year are Jordyn Senkirik of Brownwood, Kassidy Barker of Early, Taylor Tomme of Bangs, Logan Speck of Early and Paige Goodwin of Brownwood.
