Six girls are seeking the title of Miss Brown County Fair Association for 2012, and one of these candidates will be crowned during the Brown County Youth Fair on Saturday, January 14th, 2012. The current Miss Brown County Fair Association is Jordan Cadenhead.

Membership sales by the Youth Fair Queen competition is the main fundraiser for the Brown County Fair Association and proceeds benefit the upkeep of facilities and enhancing the premium sale which will take place during the 2012 Brown County Youth Fair.

Memberships are sold for $20/family and also entitle member families to eat free at the annual barbeque that is held during Rodeo Week in June.  The 2012 Brown County Youth Fair will take place January 11-14, 2012.  Please visit the

Nikki Andrews is the daughter of Clayton and Debbie Andrews and has one sister, Brianna.  She is representing the Blanket FFA as she runs for 2012 Miss BCFA.

Nikki is a senior at Blanket High School. She is active in basketball, track, cross country, cheerleading, tennis, 4-H, FFA, National Honor Society and One Act Play.

At the youth fair Nikki shows pigs and has also showed goats.

After graduation, she plans to attend Ranger College for a degree as a Registered Nurse. Eventually Nikki would like to continue her education at Texas A&M Health and Science Center gaining a degree as a nurse practitioner.  

baylie

Baylie Newton is the daughter of Bo Newton and the late Jennifer Newton of Bangs. She is the granddaughter of Thomas Newton and the late Vicki Newton and Jerry and Connie Roberts.  She is representing the Bangs FFA as she runs for 2012 Miss BCFA.

Baylie is a senior at Bangs High School and a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

In High School, Baylie participates in cheerleading, volleyball, track and softball and is also a member of the National Honor Society and is currently serving as Parliamentarian.

In FFA, Baylie has participated in land judging and is a member of the Sr. Chapter Conducting team.

Honors she has received include two-time Academic All-District and Honorable Mention for volleyball, Honorable Mention and Second Team All-District in softball and four time NCA All-American team in cheerleading.

At the youth fair Baylie has shown goats and entered food and crafts.

Baylie has been accepted to Texas Tech University and plans to pursue a degree in General Business. Future plans include attending law school and later opening her own law firm.  

stephanie

Stephanie Chapa is the daughter of Luis and Gloria Chapa and the granddaughter of Oscar and Emma Chapa and Gloria Rocha. She has two sisters, Tina and Emily, and a brother, Luis Jr. She is representing the Brownwood FFA and Brownwood FCCLA as she runs for 2012 Miss BCFA.

Stephanie is a senior at Brownwood High School and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In school, she has been involved in FCCLA, FFA and the Student Council.

While in FFA Stephanie has participated in Chapter Conducting, Ag Issues and Livestock Judging and is currently serving as treasurer. She received the Lone Star Degree this summer.

At the youth fair, Stephanie shows goats and also shows at the Houston Livestock Show.

She plans to attend Tarleton State University in the fall of 2012.

leeza

Leeza Hudspeth is the daughter of Rex and Jarene Hudspeth and the granddaughter of Billie Ann Dickerson, the late Billy Joe Dickerson and Ray and Dean Hudspeth. She is a senior at Early High School.

Leeza is representing the Early 4-H and Early FCCLA as she runs for 2012 Miss BCFA.

At the youth fair, Leeza has shown goats, pigs, lambs, cattle, horses and rabbits for ten years. She has also entered the homemaking division with crafts, canning and food. She has won showmanship with her goats and pigs.

Leeza is a member of several clubs and organizations including 4-H District Council, FCCLA and FFA. She was elected Football Sweetheart her sophomore year. In addition, Leeza participated in basketball, softball, cross country and was the student athletic trainer. Other activities include 4-H dog shows, livestock judging, meat judging and consumer decision making. She attended the state 4-H round-up for the last two years.

After high school, Leeza plans to attend Texas A&M University and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science then plans to become a veterinarian.

larisa

Larisa Nicole Salazar is the 17 year old daughter of Salvador and Maria Salazar and has two brothers Albert and Matthue.  She is representing the Brownwood FFA and Brownwood 4-H as she runs for 2012 Miss BCFA.

Larisa is a senior at Brownwood High School and a member of St Mary’s Queen of Peace Church. While in high school she has participated in cheerleading, cross country, volleyball, basketball and theater arts. Also, she has been a member of the Lady Lion Varsity softball team, National Honor Society, Choices Mentoring Program, BHS Spirit Crew, Spanish Club, 4-H and FFA.

In FFA she has competed in Jr and Sr. Creed Speaking and Floriculture.

At the youth fair, Larissa showed swine, rabbits and will show goats at the next fair. She won Grand Champion Market Rabbit in 2009.

Larisa maintains a 3.9 GPA and has been Magna Cum Laude through high school.

After graduating, Larisa plans to attend a nearby university to continue her softball career. Future plans include graduating from college with a degree in Animal Science then attending pharmacy school.

ashley

Ashley Faye Garrett is the daughter of David and Terri Garrett and the granddaughter of Gayland and Billie Shrank of Early. She has one sister, Samantha.

Ashley is a senior at Early High School and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brownwood. She will be representing Early FFA as she runs for 2012 Miss BCFA.

While in school, Ashley has participated in cross country, track, basketball and golf. She is also a student representative on the EHS school improvement team, junior ambassador for the school, member of PALS.

Currently, Ashley is serving as president of Early FFA and has also served as treasurer and secretary. Her junior year she was elected as treasurer of the Cross Timbers District FFA. She has competed in Jr. and Sr. Creed speaking, extemporaneous speaking, skills team, land judging and livestock judging. She was awarded a Lone Star Farmer degree.

In the youth fair Ashley has shown goats and lambs for 10 years and competes at all major stock shows in Texas. Last year she won Reserve Middle Weight Division Goat at the San Angelo show. 

Ashley plans to continue her education at Tarleton State University pursuing a degree in Human and Animal Physical Therapy.
